Neopets recent visit to San Diego Comic-Con not only means there was a ton of new merch available for the show, but also new merch announced!
Most importantly, NEW PLUSH ARE COMING! They'll be available at Hot Topic later in the year (other locations are in the works, but right now Hot Topic is confirmed) and will be blind boxed. The first series includes the six 25th Anniversary designs as well as two chase variants, the Void Aisha, and Juni. These plush will be slightly different than the Aisha and Shoyru released at SDCC which means everyone will be able to add 25th Anniversary Aisha and Shoyru to their collections when they release later this year. (below images are of prototypes. the final product may look a bit different)
On Thursday, Upper Deck and Neopets hosted a panel (Neopets CEO Dominic Law, Upper Deck President Jason Masherah, Neopets Battledome TCG Game Designer Bobby Coovert, and TNT Aesop) where they discussed plans for the Neopets TCG and the amount of passion that went into the project.
- The first expansion of the TCG launches in November (on the 15th) in celebration of Neopets 25th Anniversary and will feature Baby pets, and a Lab Ray mechanic (among other things!) Lab Ray exclusive colours will be introduced (including Alien Aisha) in this set.
- Neopets Battledome TCG is coming to Upper Deck e-Pack so that fans will have another way to collect and trade.
- Upper Deck prides itself on quality, and that it's customer service teams and product experts are based in the USA. If you receive a damaged card, contact them and they will replace it.
- All artists who worked on the first set of the TCG came from within the Neopets community.
- Bobby is also a fan of Neopets who has been playing for many years. If you're wanting a specific character in the game, chances are he wants them too! He's making sure the game can be supported for a very long time, so he is making sure they are added at the right time.
Our friends at Andrews McMeel were also giving away a free sample of Neopets: The Omelette Faerie, which releases in October. You can download and read it here!
In a weird twist of fate, R. Scott Campbell, the game designer of Neopets: The Darkest Faerie was also at the show. (He just wrote a novel and was showing it off and autographing copies) When the community found out, we setup the below meeting. TNT Dom/Neopets have expressed that they'd love to do a re-release of the game. (This does not mean it's happening, there are many parts to bringing back a game as large and detailed as The Darkest Faerie, but this chance meeting certainly brings it a little bit closer to reality!)
